Collective KC

Yes,

in English, Spanish and Korean

Her answer, capital letters and all, when somebody asks. Not a translation bolted on at the end but the caption written properly in each one, which is a different job and reads like it.

the same post, three times

Three worked examples

Demonstrations rather than client work, written to show what actually changes when a post is made for a reader instead of run through a translator.

A coffee shop, announcing Saturday hours

one

English

Open at seven on Saturday. The pastry case is full by eight and empty by eleven, so plan accordingly.

Dry, a little wry. Trusts the reader to do the arithmetic.

Español

Abrimos a las siete el sábado. La vitrina de pan dulce se llena a las ocho y se vacía a las once, así que ven temprano.

The joke does not survive the crossing, so it becomes an instruction. "Pan dulce" is the word a customer would use.

한국어

토요일 아침 7시에 문을 엽니다. 8시에 진열대가 가득 차고 11시면 거의 다 나가니 일찍 오세요.

Polite register throughout, which is what a shop uses to a customer. The times carry the message.

A boutique, announcing a drop

two

English

Twelve new pieces on the rack this morning. Sizes are limited and we do not restock.

Scarcity stated flatly, with no exclamation mark doing the work.

Español

Doce piezas nuevas en el perchero desde esta mañana. Hay pocas tallas y no volvemos a surtir.

"No volvemos a surtir" is plainer than the literal translation and lands harder.

한국어

오늘 아침 새로 들어온 열두 벌. 사이즈가 많지 않고 재입고는 없습니다.

Counter word for garments, and the sentence ends on the fact that matters.

A restaurant, launching catering

three

English

We cater now. Trays for twenty, forty eight hours notice, pickup or delivery.

Four facts, no adjectives. This is a post somebody screenshots.

Español

Ya hacemos catering. Bandejas para veinte personas, con 48 horas de anticipación, para recoger o con entrega.

"Ya" carries the "now" without a second sentence. The English loanword stays, because that is what people say.

한국어

케이터링을 시작했습니다. 20인분 트레이, 48시간 전 예약, 매장 픽업 또는 배달 가능합니다.

Numerals kept as numerals, because that is how a phone order gets placed.

why it is worth the extra work

One street, more than one language spoken on it

In her words: so your content can reach a wider audience and connect with your community in the language that works best.

A translated caption is understood. A written one is answered. On a small local account that difference is the whole return.

A row of independent shopfronts on a Kansas City street, awnings out.

It is a useful first sentence, and it changes what a first month looks like more than most people expect.
